Novameat a Bi-Tech startup is planning to expand its plant-based 3D-printed steaks to mass markets, consumers, and restaurants since launching its technology three years ago
The company says its meat alternative is ‘better for the planet, ourselves and animals’
It follows a successful launch last year, as of today the company has plans to produce 500kg of vegan meat products per hour.
3D-printed steaks
Since the development of their cutting-edge biotechnology back in 2018, the company revealed scaling production goals. It hopes to soon offer its products to restaurants across Spain and then worldwide.
The 3D tech is used to insert ingredients such as peas protein, seaweed, and beetroot juice through capsules according to the different production recipes (Pork and Cow Meat).
Now, Novameat has set its sights on reaching the mass market.
This past week the company gave customers a taste at a demonstration at a business event in Barcelona, the Mobile World Congress and it was a huge success.
Upon tasting one of the steaks, many customers said that they were ‘positively surprised at how similar the texture was to the real thing as reported by Reuters
Novameat Business Development Manager Alexandre Campos told the news that the company wanted to create a meat alternative ‘that is better for the planet, ourselves and the animals’.
Campos added that the brand is planning on selling the 3D-printed steaks directly to consumers and businesses soon.
And, they will begin to produce more products on a larger scale with bigger machines. Recently, the company has expanded into creating plant-based pork too.
Whilst Novameat says it’s ‘getting closer to industrial-scale production, it has not revealed yet the exact details surrounding any immediate availability.
