It is possible to make your own seitan using a bag of essential wheat gluten, some vegetable broth, and various spices; however, given that the process of producing seitan takes many hours, it is much simpler to purchase plain (or even seasoned) seitan from the supermarket. Since seitan, like many other plant-based foods, absorbs the seasoning, marinade, and sauce that is served with it, the range of possible gourmet preparations is only limited by the contents of your spice cabinet. To satiate your current wants, you are free to cook it whatever you like, season it however you like, and top it with any sauce you prefer.
