400g (14oz) can chickpeas
1½ tbsp olive oil
Optional: add 2 tsp any ground spices such as curry powder, or smoked paprika to make a spiced version
How to prepare:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees Celsius fan)/350 degrees Fahrenheit/Gas Mark 4 Line a baking sheet with baking paper that is non-stick. Drain and rinse the chickpeas, then pat them dry with kitchen paper after a thorough draining.
Spread the oil on the tray that has been lined. Sprinkle with the spices, if using, then liberally season with salt and toss thoroughly.
Shake the pan every 10 minutes for 20 to 30 minutes, until brown and crisp. Be cautious and keep your distance when shaking the pan, as ovens can occasionally explode.
Set aside to cool. Cover loosely and consume within two days. If they become soft, return them to a hot oven to crisp again.
