Best Foods For A Healthy Heart

One of the main causes of heart disease is poor diet, we should remind ourselves of the best food we can eat to keep our heart healthy.

Green Leafy Vegetables

Green and leafy vegetables are the best food for our bodies in general.  They are an excellent source of Vitamin K which helps in protecting our arteries and promotes proper blood clotting.  Any one of them is healthy however do not forget about kale or spinach there are considered superfoods. 

Avocados

Avocado helps to reduce cholesterol levels in our body.  This superfruit has excellent monosaturated fats and potassium content which are essential to our heart health.

Fish Oil

Fish are excellent sources of Omega 3 Fatty acids which are good for the heart.  Salmon, tuna, cod, or mackerel are some good examples of these.  There are other ways you can ensure Omega 3 intake such as:

Another great source of Omega 3,6 and 9 is Hemp Seed Oil.  It is “Vegan” and an excellent source of protein, it has anti-inflammatory properties that help heal our body from the inside. 

Healthy Nuts

Snack on healthy nuts such as almonds and walnuts.  They are an excellent source of monosaturated fats and fiber as well as magnesium, manganese, and copper.

Doctors recommend raw almonds.  We can roast and chop them and sprinkle them over yogurt or in our salad.  

Dark Chocolate

Would you believe that? Just make sure that you choose at least 70% dark chocolate. It is extremely rich in antioxidants that promote a healthy heart.

Seeds such as chia and flax seeds are also great sources of heart-healthy nutrients.  

Olive Oil & Garlic

Both of them give our foods a strong flavory taste, they are extremely heart-friendly and also helps fight various diseases.
