While the sportswear conglomerate doesn’t use fur in its collections, it has now become one of the most important apparel companies to join as Fur Free Retailer.
The company indicated is a permanent renouncement of fur. This step has been welcomed by many animal welfare organizations.
“Adidas is driving the topic of sustainability in all areas of its product range as well as across its entire business operations.”
“We ‘ve already been exclusively sourcing more sustainable cotton since 2018. We will only be using recycled polyester from 2024. And, this year will be launching the first running shoe that is made to be remade.
“Equally the number of vegan products with three stripes is growing; since last year, for example, the popular sneaker classics Stan Smith and Superstar have been available as vegan versions.
“The permanent renunciation of fur underlines our commitment in searching for and scaling up sustainable material innovations.”

Frank Henke is senior vice president of sustainability at Adidas. In a statement sent to PBN, said:
Adidas’s commitment shows that even brands that are not using fur still want to distance themselves from animal cruelty.
Adidas has also received praise for expanding its vegan range, last year, the brand announced it has been developing a plant-based leather made from fungus and will use it for the very first time in the creation of footwear.
